Sitting 10m high, on top of a 200 yo old oak tree, la cabane des Girolles is named after the delicious Chanterelle mushroom which is abundantly found in the forest.
To reach the tree house from the former forest guard's cottage, you will go through the "chemin des charbonniers" (coal merchant). La forêt de Quénécan is know for its coal wood. It is also famous for all sorts of mushrooms, porcini, chanterelle or black trumpet mushrooms. After walking 300m on the forest pathway, you will see the tree house nestled on top of the tree.
We like: the spacious and sunny terrace and its view over the famous village of Forges des Salles.

Immersed in the forest, magnificent despite the rainy weather. Very nice place but very poorly maintained. The cabin was dirty, urine around the toilet.

Immersed in the forest, magnificent despite the rainy weather. I advise to go there in summer because because of the rain and the wind, the cabin creaked everywhere and moved a lot but we regret nothing, it was adventure. By cons few instructions for departure the next day, we left without saying goodbye because no one at the reception, as when we arrived elsewhere. In addition, the packed lunch which costs € 50 for 2 people, all that for eating chicken chips was not worth it.

Very pleasant welcome, very clean and well-equipped cabin in terms of external sanitary facilities, a shame to find the dog napping there. Resting we saw a boar and fox.

We had a great time. Meal on the terrace 10 meters high with a very pleasant view in a very quiet location. We also slept very well. It was very nice. We want to start again.

Very good time going to the treetops. Time stands still in this cabin and it's soothing. It must be, I imagine a source of dream and adventure that to spend a night in this hut at the top of the trees for the children.
