Unusual places to stay at domain : The Enchanted River

Nestled in a hidden valley by a perfect private river-swimming spot, this is the ideal place to relax - or to use as a base for exploring the Haut Languedoc. Within our domain of 10 hectares we have two domes, a cabin and a tiny stone house, each with its own kitchen, hot shower and dry toilet.

This is a remote and romantic area of crags and wild rivers, the forests of chestnut and green oak full of birds, flowers and furry animals; the open tops covered in wild thyme, lavender and heather. Tiny stone hamlets and tumbledown stone walls stand hidden on the hillsides and in every valley there flows a stream so clean and cold that even on the hottest day you can stay cool.

It’s a little paradise that’s not quite undiscovered but completely unspoilt. There’s so much to do: walking, climbing, wild swimming, canoeing, horse riding, birdwatching, lazing under a fig tree, stargazing, visiting vineyards and ruined castles, caving, canyoning – or even doing absolutely nothing at all.
